If you want to celebrate Songkran but don’t want to sell an internal organ to afford it, then Bangkok is the best place to go. When compared to three other popular tourist spots: Chiang Mai, Pattaya and Phuket; Bangkok would cost the least for festival goers.
A study showed that Bangkok tourists would spend on average 3,357 (AUS $110) a day. Phuket remains the most expensive of the group, with average spending at 5,154 Baht a day (AUS $168).
The other two, Chiang Mai and Pattaya, would cost tourists 4,389 Baht (AUS $145) and $3,808 Baht ($125) respectively. For accommodation you’ll spend 4,438 (AUS $145) in Phuket, 3,810 (AUS $125) in Chiang Mai, 3,019 Baht (AUS $98) in Pattaya and 2,684 Baht (AUS $87) in Bangkok.
